In my first lesson, I learned how to sign numbers 0 through 15.
The number 0 is always signed with the palm out.
According to the course I am taking, numbers 1 through 5 are signed with the palm out, except when they are modifying nouns. So the number 3 in “three eggs” would be signed with your palm facing your body, but if the number 3 appears in a phone number, it’s signed with the palm facing out. (However, I have seen other resources that demonstrate counting numbers 1 through 5 with the palm out. For my purposes, I will be following the course I am enrolled in.)
Numbers 6 through 9 are always signed with the palm facing out, and numbers 10 through 15 will always be signed with the palm facing in.
With the sign for number 10, the hand does a small shake. Numbers 11 and 12 are made with an upwards flick. For numbers 13 through 15, the fingers move downwards twice while the hand remains still.
